Licensing General Overview<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The following is provided as a simplified overview of our Asset licenses.<\/strong>
Nothing written here overrules our license terms<\/a> nor is legally binding or contractual.
Always refer to the actual Candy Arts licenses for the most accurate information.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

We provide overviews and explanations of our license terms on our website to ensure users are aware of what they agree to if they use our Assets. This avoids any unexpected surprises and helps user remain in compliance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our license terms are fairly standard for the kind of products we provide. They might just a bit more thorough than most because we wanted to avoid disputes over ambiguities and prevent loopholes. This is an important precaution since we intentionally limit our right to retroactively change license terms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To get started, 4 license tiers are offered for our Assets, outlined in the table below:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

1. There’s only two questions you need to ask<\/span>:<\/strong>
\u2022 Is my project indie?<\/strong><\/a> <\/strong>(optional)
\u2022 Does my project earn revenue?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2. Choose a tier your project<\/span><\/strong> qualifies for — Free Indie, Starter Indie, Pro Indie or Studio<\/span><\/strong>:
\u2022 Indie tiers:<\/strong> you can start with the Free tier, then upgrade to Starter or Pro once your game earns revenue.
\u2022 Starter and Pro licenses<\/strong> last your entire lifetime, and allow unlimited projects. Pay only once for all the games you’ll make<\/span>!
\u2022 Studio tier:<\/strong> the only payments due are royalties on your project’s gross revenue, every 3 months. No revenue = no royalties owed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

3. For each asset, assign a license to your project<\/span><\/strong>:
\u2022 Include the license PDF with downloads of your project, or list them somewhere.
\u2022 Make sure you always assign the latest version<\/a><\/strong> of each license.
\u2022 All licenses assigned to a project must be of the same tier.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

4. You don’t have to do much after that<\/span>:<\/strong>
\u2022 Indie:<\/strong> Just make sure your project’s budget<\/span> remains under the allowed limits. Revenue amount doesn’t matter. Upgrade to a higher tier as necessary.
\u2022 Studio:<\/strong> Track your project’s revenue<\/span>, and pay any royalties owed regularly. Budget doesn’t matter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

5. Before you publish your project, remember to credit us<\/a> properly<\/span>:<\/strong>
\u2022 Display our splash screen for 3 seconds when your project runs.
\u2022 Add our disclaimer at the top of any scripts that feature any of our code.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

6. After you assign a license to a project, we can’t modify the terms unless you agree<\/span><\/strong>:
\u2022 No risk of “Agree to our new terms or remove our assets from your game” coercion.
\u2022 This protection only applies to licenses already assigned. When you assign a new license to a project, you must assign the latest version in any case.
\u2022 We can make license updates mandatory if they have no negative effects for you (e.g. changing our brand name in the license text).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

7. You can stop using our assets at any time and be released from license obligations<\/span><\/strong>:
\u2022 No penalties or waiting periods.
\u2022 Some obligations may survive (e.g. you must still pay remaining royalties for the time you used our assets).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
