The Call command calls a function anywhere in the code. It can await the function, and store the returned value to a variable of your choosing.
Keys
Every key also accepts a ¢ expression instead of a fixed value, unless its description says otherwise. See CandyRef Expressions.
Function
Description:
The function to call.
Values:
• Object path.method: Written without ¢, such as globals.my_func or $UI/Box.refresh.
• Method name: A method of the Engine.
Arguments
Description:
The values passed to the function. An Array passes each of its items as a separate argument, in order; any other value is passed as a single argument. Candy Dialogue Engine checks the number of arguments against the number the function accepts: if they don't match, it reports an error and doesn't call the function.
Values:
• ¢Array: Each item is a separate argument. ¢[globals.gold, 2, "a"] passes three arguments, the same as writing my_func(globals.gold, 2, "a") in GDScript. To pass an Array as one argument, nest it inside another Array: ¢[[1, 2, 3]] passes the single argument [1, 2, 3].
• Any other value: Passed as the only argument. Hello passes the String "Hello", and ¢globals.gold passes the value of globals.gold.
• Empty: No arguments.
Variable
Description:
The variable that stores the function's returned value. Optional.
Values:
• Variable path: Written without ¢, such as globals.hp, $UI/Box/Label.text or file_var('user://save.json').gold.
• Empty: Don't store it.
Await
Description:
Whether the Dialogue awaits the function before continuing.
Values:
• 1 or true: Await it.
• Any other value, such as 0: Don't await it.
• Empty: Don't await it.
