Next Steps - Input Keys
Players advance and control Dialogues through four input actions. The Wizard adds them to your project's Input Map (Project > Project Settings > Input Map) without assigning a key to them: assign the keys before you run a Dialogue. The Actions
  • Dialogue_Advance: advances the Dialogue to the next Line.
  • Dialogue_Speed: accelerates the writing while held (see Typewriter Effect).
  • Dialogue_Slow: slows the writing down while held.
  • Dialogue_Skip: ends the writing and displays the rest of the text instantly.
Assign a key to Dialogue_Advance (the space bar, for example), unless every Dialogue auto-advances. The three other actions are optional. Other Actions An Engine reads the actions named by its input_advance_dialogue, input_speed_dialogue, input_slow_dialogue and input_skip_dialogue settings (in the Inspector, under the Input category), so an Engine can listen to actions of your own instead. Dialogues that run at the same time can therefore be controlled by different keys.
