Exporting Dialogues
A Dialogue written in Candy Dialogue Creator is exported to your Godot project as a TXT file (see the Candy Dialogue Creator documentation). An exported Dialogue reaches an Engine in one of three ways:
  1. The TXT file stays in your Dialogues folder, and an Engine loads it whenever the Dialogue needs to run.
  2. The Dialogue is copied from the TXT file to a dictionary in your project's code, from which an Engine loads it.
  3. When an Engine only ever runs one Dialogue, the Dialogue is copied from the TXT file to the Engine's running_dialogue dictionary.
Option 1 is recommended: it's the simplest and the safest, and this documentation assumes it. Godot doesn't export TXT files by default. To include them in your exported game, add a *.txt filter in the Godot Editor's Export menu, under the Resources tab. With options 2 and 3, when your voice files are sorted by Dialogue, set the Engine's running_dialogue_file variable as well: without it, the Engine can't locate the voice files.
