Selecting Dialogue Modes
The Dialogue Mode that displays a Line is set at three levels, each overriding the previous one: Engine Settings The Engine's Dialogue Mode setting, in the Inspector under the Dialogue Display category, is the mode of every Line the Engine runs. Actor Properties An Actor overrides the Engine setting through the DialogueMode property, in the actors dictionary: "Box", "Subtitles", "Chat", "Bubbles", "Barks", "Voice", or the name of a mode of your own. This is useful for an Actor who always speaks in one mode: characters in Box mode, for example, and an off-screen narrator in Subtitles mode. Spoken Line Data A Spoken Line overrides both the Engine setting and the Actor property through its Dialogue_Mode data field: "Box", "Subtitles", "Chat", "Bubbles", "Barks", "Voice", or the name of a mode of your own (see Dialogue Modes). This is useful for specific Lines: characters who speak in Bubbles mode, for example, can switch to Box mode for non-vocal sounds or for the narration of their actions.
