Next Steps - Candy Dialogue Creator
Candy Dialogue Creator is the application Dialogues are written with. It's a standalone program, separate from the Godot Editor and from your project: Candy Dialogue Engine runs Dialogues in your game, and Candy Dialogue Creator is where they're written. Features • Writing Dialogues: Lines are added by clicking buttons to select Commands, then filling in their data fields • Reading project files: Candy Dialogue Creator can be pointed at your project folder to import data. It can then use that data to create drop-down lists to fill data fields faster, and preview media files to help you select the right ones. • Using symbols: Candy Dialogue Creator can also import your chosen syntax symbols from your project (see Symbols). It then provides shortcut buttons to insert them quickly, and it can update the symbols in your Dialogues if you ever change them. • Testing Dialogues: A Test button instantly exports the Dialogue you're working on, and the Godot Editor automatically runs it in your chosen testing scene (see Testing Dialogues). • Translating: Several features are provided that make translation work more efficient (see Translating Speech). • Exporting Dialogues: Once your Dialogues are ready, they can be exported as a TXT file into your project's Candy_DE/Dialogues folder, from where the Engine loads and runs it in your game (see Running Dialogues). Options are provided to merge or update Dialogue files when exporting. • Customizable UI: The Candy Dialogue Creator's UI is fully configurable, with a modular layout that can be split into panels that hold widgets, and customizable themes. It also supports multiple windows, for multi-monitor setups. For further information, see the Candy Dialogue Creator documentation. The Candy Dialogue Creator can be downloaded as a compiled (exported) program, or as a raw Godot project if you want to look at the source code and potentially modify it.
