Removal
Candy Dialogue Engine is removed through the Candy Wizard, which also restores your project settings as they were before the installation. Removing Candy Dialogue Engine deletes the whole Candy_DE folder, your own files in it included: your Dialogues, your media files, your scenes, and your settings and tables in User_Data. Move the files to preserve out of the folder first, or back up your project. Removing 1. In the Wizard's Setup tool, click the "Remove" button. 2. The Wizard offers to back up your project. The backup is optional, but recommended. 3. Read the summary. It lists what is about to be removed, including the files in Candy_DE that you added or changed since the installation. 4. If the Wizard asks you to close scenes or scripts, close them in the Godot Editor: saving one of them after the removal would recreate it. 5. Click the red "Remove" button. Nothing is changed before this step. 6. Click "Restart Editor", so that Godot unloads Candy Dialogue Engine's classes and autoloads. What Is Removed
ItemWhat happens
The Candy_DE folderMoved to your system's trash, from which it can be restored. On a system with no trash, it's deleted for good.
Autoloads the installation added (candy_de, candy_ui)Removed from the Project Settings.
Autoloads the installation replacedRestored to what they were before the installation.
Autoloads you changed since the installationLeft as they are.
Input actions the installation added (Dialogue_Advance, Dialogue_Skip, Dialogue_Speed, Dialogue_Slow)Removed from the Input Map.
If the folder can't be removed, the project settings are left as they are. What Remains The Wizard only removes what the installation added. The following remain in your project:
  • Files stored outside the Candy_DE folder, such as media or Dialogues in custom folders.
  • Your game code that uses Candy Dialogue Engine, such as calls to start_dialogue() or to the candy_de autoload. It will report errors until you remove or change it.
  • The *.txt filter in your export presets, if you added one.
  • The Candy Wizard itself. To remove it, disable it in Project > Project Settings > Plugins, then delete its folder in addons.
Installations the Wizard Can't Remove The Wizard only removes an installation it performed. A Candy_DE folder that was installed by hand is left alone, and must be removed by hand:
  • Delete the Candy_DE folder.
  • In Project > Project Settings > Globals, remove the candy_de and candy_ui autoloads.
  • In Project > Project Settings > Input Map, remove the four Dialogue_ actions.
The same applies to the input actions of an installation performed by an early version of the Wizard: if the summary says they aren't listed, remove them in the Input Map.
