Filters
A filter is a toggle that shows or hides part of a form. Filters shorten a form: what is rarely needed stays one click away instead of occupying space. The filters of a tab are displayed as a row of toggles above its areas, in the filter bar. In the default Spoken Line form, the Write tab has filters for the Disposition, the Meta Reference and the notes. Using Filters Click a filter to show or hide what it covers. Hover it to see what it covers.
  • A filter that is on shows what it covers. Off, it hides it.
  • What no filter covers is always displayed.
  • Drag a filter along the bar to move it.
When a widget is hidden, the other widgets retain their size: the widget beside it expands into its space, and the widgets under it move up, leaving the space empty at the bottom of the tab. See "Hidden Widgets" in Line Layouts. The state of a filter is the same for every Line of that Command: turn Voice off on one Spoken Line, and it's off on all of them until it is turned on again. Hiding a field never changes its value. Creating Filters Each tab of each Command has its own filters. Open the tab, then press Filters... at the end of the filter bar.

WidgetsOne widget of the tab, whole. Unfold a widget to cover only part of its contents instead: single fields, a category of a Fields widget, or one of its separators.
Widget typesEvery widget of a kind in the tab, such as every Portrait Preview.
Fields in every widgetA field, wherever the tab displays it.
A filter can cover any mix of these. For example, a "Voice" filter can cover the Voice Preview widget and the Voice field together. Fields are listed under the fields that contain them. Two fields with the same name in different places are separate: the Setup of a Choice List and the Setup of its categories are ticked one by one. A field inside a list is covered in every entry of the list. Widgets are named by their kind, followed by what distinguishes them: their reference, or the first fields they display. Filters and Layouts
  • Filters belong to their tab: they are moved, removed and reset with it, and saved with every layout that contains the tab.
  • Filters are per Dialogue Editor, like the line layouts.
  • Filters apply in the Editor's Edit Layout mode too, so that the tab looks the same: turn a filter off to edit what it hides.
When an area is closed or its widget changed, the filters that covered that widget cover nothing anymore: tick the new widget in Filters.... Other Ways to Hide Things
