Widgets
A widget is what an area of the Dialogue Editor displays. Each Command's form consists of widgets, arranged in tabs and areas (see Line Layouts).
WidgetWhat it's for

Field TreeLists the entries of a Line (choices, players...), to display one at a time in the Fields widgets.

Variation SelectorPicks the Variation the other widgets display.
Speech EditorEdits a Variation's text, as plain text.
Advanced Speech EditorEdits a Variation's text, displayed formatted.
Speech ViewerDisplays a Variation's text, read-only.
Variation PropertiesEdits a Variation's properties, such as its Weight.
Variation EditorEdits several Variations at once: random Variations, TTS texts, translations.
CountersCounts the words and characters of a Variation, and compares it with another.
Portrait PreviewDisplays the Line's portrait.
Voice PreviewPlays the Line's voice file.
Text Event EditorCreates the Line's own Text Events, and the Commands they run.
The widgets from Variation Selector down are specific to the Spoken Line: they work on its Variations, its portrait, its voice and its Text Events. Shared Behaviour A right-click menu Right-clicking a widget opens its menu: Options, its settings, and Scroll. A text box retains its own right-click menu, to which Options is added. Options A widget's Options start with its Reference, when it has one, and end with the Minimum Size and Maximum Size of its area (see Line Layouts). Scroll With Scroll on, a widget that is taller than its area scrolls inside it. Off, the area grows to fit the widget, and the whole tab scrolls instead. References Widgets that work together are linked by a reference, 1 by default. The Speech Editor, the Voice Preview and the Counters with reference 1 display the Variation picked in the Variation Selector with reference 1. A second selector with reference 2 can drive a second group of widgets in the same tab. See References. A place in a layout A widget's settings are saved in the line layout it's part of, and can be saved by themselves as a widget layout (see Saved Layouts).
