Tabs
The Tabs panel contains other Panels as tabs, so that several Panels share one Area, displayed one at a time. In the default layout, the buttons of each kind of Command are tabs of one Tabs panel. A tab can contain any Panel, including another Tabs panel.

A tab displays the name of its Panel until it is renamed. Tab names are how the default layout distinguishes its Dialogue Buttons panels: Presets, Engine, UI, Control... Moving Tabs Drag a tab along the tab bar to reorder it, or onto the tab bar of another Tabs panel to move it there. The Panel retains its settings. When the tabs don't fit, arrows appear at the end of the tab bar. The mouse wheel scrolls it too. Options Right-click the empty space of the tab bar and choose Options.

Tabs Versus Areas
  • Use tabs for Panels consulted one at a time.
  • Use separate Areas for Panels to display together (see Edit Layout).
A Panel in a tab has no Area of its own, so its Options have no minimum or maximum size: the Tabs panel's apply.
